Activities

Wilton Encore Club offers many different activities and is willing to start new groups as the interest arises. Wilton Encore Club has a monthly newsletter that can be viewed and printed from the website or mailed to members (upon request).  The newsletter announces the monthly luncheon, all activities scheduled for the month and any news about our members. We currently offer the following activities that can change at any time:

  • Book Discussion

    • This group meets once a month and discusses the book of the month. This book is chosen either by the group or the leader for that month.
  • Bridge

    • Bridge meets every Monday at the Comstock Community Center to play many hands of bridge. The group has great fellowship, some snacks and drinks and congenial playing. We also have a second group on Thursdays that meet at members’ homes.
  • Chick Flick

    • Meets once a month for dinner and a current fun/interesting movie.
  • Monthly Coffees

    • The Club holds a Monthly Coffee the first Friday of the month, at different members’ homes. The event is a very casual visit with other Encore members and anyone you would like to invite as a guest, are welcome to attend.
  • Evening Get-together

    • Once a year, on a weekend evening, we hold a gathering for couples, spouses and friends to join together for food, drink and socializing. It is usually held at a member’s home.
  • New York City Theater Trip

    • When members will go to NYC to see a hit Broadway play. Usually there are 20 tickets available for members. This is usually in November.
  • Fundraiser

    • This luncheon event is held in the Fall to raise a donation to a worthy cause or organization in Wilton. Most recently it was held at the Silver Springs Country Club.
  • Enrichment Group

    • Approximately four times a year, we will enjoy some interesting and diverse forms of art or culture. We will visit museums, galleries, homes, churches, attend lectures, etc.,.If you have any ideas, suggestions, and thoughts, let us know.
  • Lunch Bunch

    • A casual luncheon at a different restaurant each month where we are able to order from the menu. Our goal is to go to new places in Fairfield County with some diversity in the menu. The newsletter will have the place and time.
  • Mah Jongg

    • The group meets every Wednesday to play at the Comstock Community Center.
  • New York City Ballet

    • Each year members go to lunch in New York City and see selected ballet.
  • Special Luncheons for Membership

    • More formalized luncheons held for membership about four times a year.
  • Take a Walk With Us

    • The walks cover all the trails in the Wilton area. When weather is good we meet at designated locations at 8:30 or 9 o’clock in the morning.  All are welcomed to walk as far and as long as you wish.  A notice will be posted several days before.  Membership is not required so friends can come along as well
  • Happy Hour!

    • Members gather on the first Tuesday of each month in a local restaurant to enjoy friendship, a few laughs and, of course, appetizers and drinks.  Time is usually 4 to 6 pm.
  • Ladies Who Brunch

    • Members gather usually once a month to have brunch at our local Orem’s Diner.  Time is usually 10:30 to 12.
  • Sew & Sew Social

    • This group meets once a month.  They work on various projects including needlepoint, knitting, crocheting and quilt making.
